Si è lui. Lauro, il nostro Lauro, che abbandonò il patrio suolo dopo che LMT interruppero le loro attività nella ozonosfera. Che diventò Gran Putifarre della catena degli Har Har Rock Café. Che ormai è più inglese di Peppino di Capri. Che si è Laur-e-o-ato lassù oltremanica e che ormai è più noto come fotografo che come chitarraio (appese la Fender a un chiodo all'inizio degli anni '90, purtroppo era il chiodo della sella del cammello del Sultano).
Finalmente l'O' Cardigan espone le sue immagini in una galleria d'arte nel nord di London (Harrow). Ha approfondito alcuni suoi rovelli: cosa è reale? Cosa si spaccia per rappresentazione del reale ma è solo ambiguo simulacro? Quanti anni ha Paperino?
Attorno a queste domande ruotano i suoi scatti digitali, esposti con quelli di altri due "MA graduate" provenienti dalla Westminster University.

Per tutti voi che fate avanti e indietro da Albione (ma anche sopra e sotto, destra e sinistra, bistrato e soccombo), l'appuntamento è alla Fovea Gallery, dal 18 al 24 giugno prossimi e venturi.

Three MA graduate artists: Bethan Williams, Lauro Govoni, and Susi Martin-Taylor, from Westminister University (Harrow), are showing their recent work at the FOVEA gallery in West Harrow

Working in three very different ways they address issues and ideas that they have been exploring, over the past year. Bethan is a sculptor who works in ceramics and who’s work is based around the theme of female sexuality, and ideas projected onto women’s sexuality by society, the media and religion. Lauro is a photographer who questions photography as a form of representation, as photography can witness an event, but it can also create an illusion! Susi is a sculptor/mixed media artist, who’s work looks at the changes that have taken place in London’s Docklands over the past few years, represented through imagery and local finds.

My photographs play with the ambiguity of being “real” questioning what real might mean. They are digital prints but presented as straight photographs without showing any digital artefacts, leaving the question about its nature open to the viewer.

Instead of being photographs which try to sell an illusion, they are photographs open to be questioned about their form of representation on their own and/or in relation to the images we perceive everyday.
